Job Description

We are looking for a seasoned Vice President of Sales & Marketing with B2B SaaS experience to join our growing company’s management team. In this role, you are responsible for delivering on our revenue targets, developing and executing commercial strategies, making our current sales process more efficient and repeatable, and playing a vital part in reaching our ambitious financial and positive impact goals

As VP of Sales & Marketing you are the most senior leader in the company on all commercial matters and part of the management team. 


The VP of Sales and Marketing is responsible for designing, building, and running the end-2-end commercial organisation, from driving awareness to lead generation, to closing and upsell. In this role you will be reporting to Rien (CEO and co-founder) and working closely together with the rest of the management team (Ernst, Liesbeth, Daan, Cedric, Silvia, Joris). This position is integrally involved in product strategy, development, pricing and launch. Simultaneously, you will be supervising and coaching a team of sales and marketing professionals and will oversee their operational work and personal growth.


What we already have

We have amazing customers on annual contracts who are loyal and love our product. We work together with some of the most advanced and well known indoor growers in the world, such as Agro Care and Harvest House. We have a CRM with strong leads, and are regularly adding to our pipeline. The team consists of 1 SDR (to be hired) and 1 marketing/ communications lead, and will expand in the next phase of growth. We have dashboards and some key foundational sales processes and materials in place.

Here is what we need from you to take us to the next level:

Your responsibilities:

  • Close B2B SaaS deals with SME (agriculture) companies, deliver >€10M ARR within the next 2 years

  • Grow our commercial footprint in new international markets, with a strong emphasis on Europe and North America

  • Refine and enhance sales processes to ensure a predictable, repeatable, and scalable growth - ready for further scaling after the next funding round(s)

  • Design, build, and manage a world-class commercial team. Hire your own team of sales and marketing professionals.

  • Lead, coach, develop and manage the sales & marketing team to execute on our marketing and sales plans and processes

  • Decide how to best allocate resources across the sales & marketing teams to achieve both short term and long term results

  • Collaborate with the product and customer teams to create and optimise our value proposition, and translate that into effective sales & marketing strategies and materials

  • Inform the product roadmap with insights from the market and be the sparring partner of the CPO and product leads on prioritisation of opportunities

  • Oversee Marketing, PR and PA to build and drive overall brand awareness, engagement with prospective customers, and drive lead generation

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with our customer base, understand their need and pain points, and work with the customer success teams to drive upsell

  • Create a solid network of strategic partnerships, with the aim to set up and drive channel sales.


This is you:

  • 10-15+ years experience in sales, ideally with 3+ years in a commercial leadership role at a startup or scale-up

  • Understanding of the role of marketing and PR in the commercial process, able to build a comprehensive end-2-end strategy from awareness to closing.

  • Proven success in mid-market and enterprise SaaS sales, hitting revenue targets for deals with annual contract sizes from $20K - $200k+

  • Not afraid to get your hands dirty to get things done, close deals, and drive the sales team to success

  • Strong people and communication skills, able to effectively coach and grow your team and collaborate with (product) teams across the organisation

  • Energetic and positive attitude, ability to quickly adapt to a fast changing, rapidly growing industry

  • Availability and passion to travel internationally


Bonus points:

  • Experience (or affection) with the agriculture or horticulture industry

  • Proven success with early stage startup sales teams going from 1-2M ARR to 10M+ ARR

  • Enjoys and embraces the dynamics of growing a startup rapidly
